Saving seeds

Help protect Britain's vegetable heritage

The country's gone 'grow your own' crazy, but did you know that over the last century hundreds of Britain's vegetables have disappeared due to rules and legislation? This has led to less variety in our gardens affecting everything from our plots to our plates.

To help prevent more delicious veggies from vanishing why not join or buy gift membership to Garden Organic's Heritage Seed Library? With your support the charity's unique and increasing collection of over 800 old, endangered and heirloom vegetables will be saved for generations of gardeners and food lovers to come.

Members will receive a quarterly update and can choose six rare veg varieties each year to grow in their own garden from seed. Prices start from as little as £20 per year, visit Heritage Seed Library pages or call 024 76 308210 for more info.

Keep Calm Gallery

Green-fingered art and no dirty fingernails!

To mark the nation's new found love of growing its own, Garden Organic has teamed up with leading online art gallery - Keep Calm Gallery - to release a limited edition set of prints to support the charity's horticultural work.

The 'Grow Your Greens' collection from Keep Calm Gallery showcases three brand new prints in aid of Garden Organic. Put together by artists Matthew Green, Lucy McLauchlan, Hayley Thwaites and Lucas Lepola, the collection consists of three striking designs each inspired by the grow your own message.

Garden Organic, which believes encouraging people to grow their own food, at whatever scale, is vital for reconnecting them with the food they eat, hopes that the prints will raise enough funds to support its valuable work. Each print is screen printed by hand onto recycled paper using environmentally friendly inks, and is signed and numbered. Prices range between £30 and £120 with 35% of profits from each print sold going to the charity. Visit www.keepcalmgallery.com to order yours.
